JUNE Featured Athlete - Andrea Mandella -Saurer Sport - Bodybuilding

The first time I experienced life without pain was after a treatment from Chris. As a professional athlete, I receive numerous massages from highly skilled therapists but none of them are able to heal my injuries. Due to a broken tibia at the young age of four, sciatic pain was chronic on a daily basis for as long as I can remember. Chiropractic adjustments began around age eleven and were consistent throughout adulthood but only temporary solutions. Later in life, doctors diagnosed me with Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis in the same leg as my sciatica.

I began playing sports as a kid and was the only girl on my tee-ball team. Youth participation included basketball, field hockey and softball. I continued this path throughout High School during basketball and field hockey seasons. Upon graduating with honors an athletic director recruited me to play for their field hockey team at a local college. While on the Dean’s List I earned a psychology degree with a minor in leadership playing two National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sports; field hockey and lacrosse. This was the first time I had a trainer who took care of the college athletes’ injuries and provided stretching techniques, ice, tape, bandages etc. so we could perform our best.

After team athletics were no longer available to me since graduating, being unable to compete created a huge void in my behavior. Sports are a stable commitment that provides discipline, sacrifice and determination, which are valuable characteristics. When the opportunity of bodybuilding presented itself, I immediately took advantage by competing on stage. It took almost ten years to win a national bodybuilding show that earned me an International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) pro card. The difference between competing on an amateur level and a professional stage vary drastically. I have yet to make this advancement while improving aesthetic weaknesses and healing painful injuries with the help of Chris from Vision for Enrichment. The necessary bodywork I receive from him allows me to train harder in the gym, lift heavier, and recover quicker; all required benefits for gaining lean muscle mass. Thanks to Chris from VFE I am currently in the best shape of my life experiencing the least amount of pain. Please follow my bodybuilding journey on Instagram (@RippedVixen) as I continue the search for sponsors to help support my pro debut.
