Rich’s experience with athletes and physically active individuals stems from over 25 years of competing as an athlete (25 years competing in soccer, baseball, basketball, wrestling, indoor and beach volleyball, mountain biking, trail running, road running, surfing, triathlons, and dragonboat paddling), coaching competitively in soccer for over 15 years, personal training, strength and agility coach, and manual treatment for over 14 years.
His drive to work with athletes began at age 16 when Rich took his first Psychology class in high school. Intrigued by sports and Psychology, Rich carved out a major in undergraduate studies, which had an emphasis on Psychology of Sports. His Master studies were in Clinical Psychology, which he continued to coach and work with athletes on mental performance and anxiety in their sport.
Rich was a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Candidate, but soon found that another “calling” was pulling him towards the direction of working with athletes and teams physically. Since 2004, Rich has provided volunteer services with professional medical teams
such as :
Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) since 2004, and Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) 2016 World Championships in Long Beach, California
2019 Golf US Open Pebble Beach, 2019 Pro Tennis BMP Paribas Open.
Rich has also taken part and headed support teams for local crossfit competitions, crossfit regional competitions, and Olympic Trials Fast Walk. In 2010, Rich officially gave birth to Vision For Enrichment, and is consistently focused on the growth of VFE services. He continues to bring on coachable qualified therapists who are also willing to share his vision in working with athletes and active individuals on recreational, competitive, and professional levels.
His open minded approach in letting the VFE teammates grow into how they want to as a professional practitioner is what provides Team VFE its uniqueness. Rich’s goal has always been to be apart of the community VFE serves, and to become a “home” where all athletes can laugh, enjoy, and be taken care of.
